MFG Completes External Refurbishment and Improvement Works for MoJ

MFG Construction has successfully delivered a comprehensive programme of external refurbishment and improvement works at Lancaster House, undertaken on behalf of Mitie for the Ministry of Justice.

The scheme, which supports the provision of accommodation for High Court judges during extended sittings, focused on enhancing the building’s external fabric, improving security features and refreshing selected internal areas to ensure a safe, modern, and high-quality environment.

The project included the construction of a new patio area, formed following excavation and installation of a compacted hardcore base and finished with Indian stone paving to create a durable and refined outdoor space. Additional hard-landscaping elements were completed to improve functionality and aesthetics across the grounds.

Security was strengthened through the installation of new black powder-coated steel mesh fencing and posts, designed to meet current performance and safety standards while complementing the site’s existing character.

Significant attention was given to the building’s heritage features through the repair, preparation and full refurbishment of timber windows. Works were completed using both MEWP access and scaffolding to ensure a safe and controlled approach while maintaining the fabric of the property.

Internally, improvements were carried out to ceilings and woodwork, including the removal of existing wallpaper and application of new finishes to restore visual quality and consistency throughout the building.
