MFG Delivers high-stakes transformation at Greater Manchester Probation Centre

In a significant refurbishment project for the Ministry of Justice, MFG Construction has completed a major interior overhaul of the Greater Manchester Probation Centre—transforming an ageing, operational facility into a high-spec, modern environment that better supports staff and service users alike.

Working under longstanding partner, Mitie, MFG was tasked with delivering a full internal refurbishment of key areas including washrooms, kitchens, conference rooms, and support spaces. All work was delivered in a ‘live’ setting—meaning the building remained fully operational throughout the construction period.

Led on site by MFG Project Manager Nick Duff, the team maintained rigorous health and safety protocols, implemented tailored inductions, and kept communication open and consistent with staff at the centre—ensuring zero disruption to daily operations.

The result is a striking transformation: from worn, dated interiors to bright, clean, and contemporary facilities, complete with upgraded flooring, hygiene-rated finishes, and modern amenities.
