MFG FM completes summer holiday changing room refurbishment at Oldbury Academy

Facilities management specialist MFG FM has completed the full refurbishment of the male and female shower and changing rooms at Oldbury Academy in the West Midlands, delivering the entire project within the school summer holidays.

The works, carried out across both changing rooms, included the replacement of eight showers together with associated pipework and fittings, the removal of existing tiled flooring and installation of a new self-levelling screed and cap-and-coved polyfloor safety flooring, and the fitting of new hygiene boards to all walls.

Two commercial extractor fans were replaced to improve ventilation, and eight cubicle doors and side panels were installed to complete the refurbishment.

The project was programmed to run entirely outside term time, with both rooms handed back to the school ahead of pupils returning in September.

Matthew Pickles, Business Development Manager at MFG FM, said: “Schools have a very narrow window to get this kind of work done, and it has to be right first time. We planned the programme around the holiday period, sequenced the two rooms so nothing sat idle, and handed back before term started. That’s the standard we work to across every education project.”

The project is the latest in a growing portfolio of education work for MFG FM, which was launched earlier this year by MFG Construction to deliver minor works, refurbishment and maintenance services across the UK.
