Project Highlights

  • MFG's team attended a government building in Belfast to deliver a clear remit: redecorate the ground floor hallway and install protective Perspex sheeting to the walls for enhanced durability.

  • All hallway walls were prepared and finished with two coats of white paint.

  • 3mm Perspex sheeting was fixed to the walls using plasterboard fixings and screws, finished with white screw caps for a clean, uniform appearance. All areas were left clean and tidy

  • Additional storage shelving was supplied and fitted along the wall of an on-site storage container, meeting the client's request for added capacity.

  • All works completed in under four days, to a high standard, with the client happy.

When a government building in Belfast needed the next phase of works delivered, they turned to MFG Construction once again.

MFG had already completed larger works at the same site, and it was that track record that brought the client back. This phase focused on the ground floor hallway: redecorate it, install protective Perspex sheeting to the walls, and supply and fit additional storage shelving to a site storage container.

A straightforward scope, but one that had to be delivered cleanly and quickly in a live, high-security environment, by a contractor the client already knew and trusted.

The Challenge

Work in a government building doesn't happen in isolation. It happens in a secure, operational environment where access is controlled, standards are non-negotiable, and disruption has to be kept to an absolute minimum. There's a level of trust in the contractor carrying out the work and that contractor is MFG.The hallway needed more than a coat of paint.

Protective Perspex sheeting was specified to give the walls enhanced durability in a high-traffic area, which meant a finish that was both hard-wearing and tidy. The shelving, meanwhile, had to be fitted securely inside a storage container to give the client the additional capacity they were after. The brief on all of it was the same: do it properly, do it cleanly, and do it without dragging the job out.

The Result

MFG's team completed the full scope in under four days. The hallway walls were prepared and finished with two coats of white paint. The 3mm Perspex sheeting was fixed using plasterboard fixings and screws, finished with white screw caps for a clean, consistent look, with every area left clean and tidy on completion. The additional storage shelving was supplied and fitted along the wall of the container, exactly as the client requested. The result: a hallway protected and brought up to standard, extra storage in place, and a client happy with the workmanship and the turnaround.

What we said:

Stephen Price, Projects Director, MFG Construction, said: "This is the kind of job MFG does day in, day out, and the kind we never cut corners on. A government building expects a certain standard, and our remit was to deliver it cleanly and quickly without getting in the way of a live, secure site.

“Two coats on the hallway, Perspex sheeting fixed and finished properly with every cap on and every area left tidy, and the shelving fitted exactly as the client wanted, all wrapped up in under four days. It might not be the biggest job we'll do this year, but it's finished to the same standard as if it were. That's the point. The client was happy, and that's what brings them back."
