Project Overview
MFG Construction was appointed by Northern to undertake glazing replacement works at Penistone Railway Station. The project focused on maintaining comfort, safety, and presentation standards for station users.
The works were essential in improving passenger experience and ensuring the waiting room facilities remained secure, weatherproof, and compliant with safety standards.
Stephen Price, Projects Director, MFG Construction, said:
"This project involved replacing the glazing in the station waiting rooms to improve safety and comfort for passengers. The works were completed to specification and without disruption to station operations."

Project Highlights
All glazing within both waiting rooms was replaced with toughened laminated glazing panels to meet modern safety and durability standards.
Each pane was bedded and sealed using appropriate glazing sealant, with existing glazing beads reinstated to securely retain panels in position and preserve the station's visual character.
All waste materials were removed from site upon completion.
Site activities were carried out in compliance with Northern safety protocols
No health and safety issues observed or reported during the works.
Delivery & Outcome
The project was delivered efficiently, with clear communication between MFG site teams, Northern and station management. Works were completed within the required timeframe, maintaining full public access throughout.
Result
The completed glazing replacement works at Penistone Station have restored the waiting rooms to a high standard of appearance, performance, and safety.
